Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji perilaku konsumen dan self-esteem di kalangan kolektor art-toys, khususnya KAWS, dalam konteks budaya hype di kalangan masyarakat urban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana perilaku konsumen ini terkait dengan self-esteem individu. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana pengalaman kolektor dalam memperoleh art-toys KAWS edisi terbatas terkait dengan self-esteem mereka. Berdasarkan teori perilaku konsumen Solomon, kolektor art-toys KAWS cenderung dipengaruhi oleh tiga komponen: kognitif, afektif, dan konatif. Selain itu, penelitian ini mengacu pada teori self-esteem Coopersmith yang memiliki empat aspek utama: power, significance, virtue, dan competence. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aspek afektif dalam perilaku kolektor art-toys KAWS menjadi faktor dominan dalam keputusan untuk mengoleksi, bukan sekadar karena nilai fungsional atau investasi. Koleksi ini memiliki keterkaitan emosional yang mendalam, di mana proses pencarian dan kepemilikan memberikan kepuasan dan kebanggaan tersendiri bagi kolektor. Selain menikmati proses berburu koleksi, kolektor juga memanfaatkan art-toys sebagai sarana ekspresi diri dan bentuk apresiasi terhadap seni. Nilai dari art-toys tidak hanya berasal dari aspek estetika atau desain uniknya, tetapi juga dari kelangkaan (rarity), historisitas, dan keterkaitan dengan budaya pop, yang semakin memperkuat daya tarik dan keterikatan emosional kolektor terhadap karya tersebut. Art-toys juga mencerminkan perjalanan seni sang seniman serta keterlibatan mereka dalam budaya pop dan street art, dengan kelangkaan koleksi semakin memperkuat ikatan emosional. Lebih dari itu, koleksi ini menjadi bagian dari aktualisasi diri, di mana mereka tidak hanya menikmati kepemilikan tetapi juga menggunakannya untuk mengekspresikan identitas dan nilai pribadi. Mengoleksi art-toys bukan sekadar hobi, tetapi juga sarana pencapaian diri dan perwujudan potensi kreatif.
