Submissions Guideline

Registration Step

When first visiting the Asia Pacific Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Energy (APJSAFE) website at https://ojs.bakrie.ac.id/index.php/APJSAFE/index, prospective authors are required to create an account before submitting a manuscript.

To begin, please click the “Register” button located in the top-right corner of the website. This will direct you to the registration page.

On the registration page, authors are required to complete all registration fields accurately and thoroughly, including personal information, affiliation, country, login credentials, and contact details. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory and must be filled in.

After completing the form, authors must agree to the required terms by selecting the appropriate checkboxes:

  • The first checkbox confirms agreement with the journal’s privacy policy.
  • The second checkbox allows the author to receive notifications about new publications and announcements.

For users who also serve as reviewers, an additional option is available:

  • The third checkbox may be selected to indicate willingness to be contacted for manuscript review requests.
  • If this option is selected, users are required to fill in their reviewing interests, specifying subject areas they are competent to review. Examples of reviewing interests can be seen in the provided image (e.g., Food nutrition, Food development, etc.).

Once all required information has been completed and the appropriate options have been selected, please click the “Register” button at the bottom of the page to successfully create your account.

Login Step

After registration, authors may log in and proceed with the manuscript submission process.

Submission Step I: Make A New Submission & Start

After successfully logging in, authors may begin the manuscript submission process through the journal’s online system.

First, click “Online Submission” located in the Additional Menu on the right-hand sidebar of the website. This will open the Submissions page. On this page, select “Make a New Submission” to initiate a new manuscript submission.

The system will then direct you to the first submission step, labeled “Start.” In this step, authors are required to select the appropriate Section for their manuscript.

Next, carefully review the Submission Requirements listed on the page. These requirements confirm that the manuscript complies with the journal’s policies, formatting standards, and ethical guidelines. Authors must read and check all requirement boxes to indicate agreement before proceeding.

If there are any important notes, clarifications, or messages that need to be communicated to the editorial team, authors may include them in the “Comments to the Editor” field. This section is optional and should only be used when necessary.

Authors must also select Corresponding Contact to indicate that they can be contacted regarding the submitted manuscript. Before confirming this option, authors are strongly encouraged to review the journal’s privacy statement to understand how personal data will be collected and used.

Once all required fields have been completed and all applicable checkboxes have been selected, click “Save and Continue” to proceed to the next stage of the submission process.

Submission Step II: Upload Submission

After completing the Start step, authors will proceed to Step II: Upload Submission.

In this stage, authors are required to upload the main manuscript file that has been prepared in accordance with the journal’s requirements. The manuscript must:

  • Follow the official APJSAFE article template, and
  • Be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

Once the file has been uploaded, authors must confirm the file type. Please ensure that the uploaded file is correctly designated as “Article Text” (or another appropriate file type if applicable).

After confirming the file type and reviewing the uploaded document, click “Save and Continue” to proceed to the next step.

Submission Step III: Enter Metadata

In Enter Metadata, authors are required to provide detailed information related to the submitted manuscript. All metadata should be completed accurately and consistently, based on the content of the article.

The following information must be filled in:

  • Title: Enter the full title of the manuscript as it appears in the article.
  • Abstract: Paste the abstract text exactly as written in the manuscript.

  • Contributors: The submitting author will be listed automatically. If the manuscript has more than one author, click “Add Contributor” to include additional authors, ensuring that names, affiliations, and email addresses are entered correctly.
  • Keywords: Provide 4–6 relevant keywords, separated individually, that reflect the main topics of the manuscript.
  • References: Enter the complete list of references used in the article, formatted according to the journal’s reference style.

Authors are advised to carefully review all entered metadata before proceeding, as this information will be used for indexing, peer review, and publication purposes.

Once all required metadata fields have been completed, click “Save and Continue” to proceed to the next stage of the submission process.

Submission Step IV: Confirmation

After completing all required submission steps, authors are required to review and confirm their submission. Please ensure that all uploaded files and metadata are accurate and complete. Once confirmed, the submission can be finalized.

Upon successful completion, the system will automatically register the manuscript in the journal’s workflow. Authors will then be redirected to the Next Stages overview.

To monitor the progress of the manuscript, authors may access the “My Queue” page from the Submissions menu. On this page, authors can track the status of their submission throughout the editorial process, including:

  • Initial assessment by the Editor in Chief,
  • The peer review process,
  • Copyediting, and
  • The production stage prior to publication.

At any time during this process, authors may click the “View” button associated with their submission to access detailed workflow information and uploaded files.

In addition, once the submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive a Submission Acknowledgement email from the Editor in Chief, confirming that the manuscript has been received by the Asia Pacific Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Energy (APJSAFE). This email serves as official confirmation and includes relevant submission details for future reference.

Authors are encouraged to regularly check both the My Queue page and their registered email address for updates, notifications, and further editorial communications.
