Aims

JICEE exists to provide a credible, peer-reviewed, and open-access publication outlet for original research that integrates industrial engineering, civil engineering, and environmental engineering in support of sustainable, technology-driven infrastructure development. The journal evaluates submissions strictly on the basis of scientific validity, methodological rigor, and contribution to knowledge β€” not on manuscript length, topical trends, or institutional affiliation. JICEE particularly welcomes research that demonstrates genuine cross-disciplinary integration rather than work that could be equally well placed in a single-discipline journal.

Scope

JICEE's scope is organized around three cross-cutting research themes β€” Sustainability, Smart System, and Integrated System Engineering β€” each examined across three fields of engineering practice: Industrial Process Technology, Infrastructure Engineering Technology, and Environmental Technology.

Sustainability covers technologies, systems, and policies that improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact. In Industrial Process Technology, this includes energy efficiency, clean production, the circular economy, and sustainable manufacturing. In Infrastructure Engineering Technology, it covers green infrastructure, sustainable construction, environmentally friendly materials, and climate-resilient infrastructure. In Environmental Technology, the focus extends to sustainable management of clean water, wastewater, air quality, and solid and hazardous waste, together with occupational health and safety management, environmental management systems, and emerging environmental issues.

Smart System addresses the application of digital technology, intelligent systems, and automation to improve efficiency, monitoring, and data-driven decision-making. In Industrial Process Technology, relevant topics include artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial automation, data analytics, and smart manufacturing. In Infrastructure Engineering Technology, the scope covers finite element analysis, real-time structural health forecasting, resilient infrastructure, smart infrastructure, smart cities, and building information modeling (BIM). In Environmental Technology, this theme includes smart environmental monitoring, intelligent waste management systems, and environmental sensor technologies.

Integrated System Engineering emphasizes cross-disciplinary integration in the design, optimization, and management of industrial, infrastructure, and environmental systems. In Industrial Process Technology, this includes modeling and simulation of systems, supply chain engineering, system optimization, and production system integration. In Infrastructure Engineering Technology, the scope covers integrated transportation systems and integrated infrastructure engineering. In Environmental Technology, the focus extends to integrated waste-to-energy systems, integrated environmental management, industrial ecology, and the water-energy-waste nexus.
